J.Crew and 3 G's

J. Crew is now catering to its high-end clientele shoppers who currently stock up on their cashmere blend cardigans in 20 colors each season. This jacket is J.Crew's costliest item to date- for $3,000. It's a part of J.Crew's higher end, limited edition line.

That's a lot of cheese for a jacket that indeed looks designer but isn't. But kudos for J. Crew for stepping out of the khaki's-and-driving-loafer's box.

Terra Cotta Warriors

I've been extremely fascinated with the history and origin of the "Terra Cotta Warriors" since seeing a picture of them in my history book in high school so many years ago. It's amazing- these terra cotta warriors were created around 259 B.C. in China, commissioned by Emperor Qin, (who also began contruction of the first Great Wall) to protect his tomb and to protect him in the afterlife. These mindblowing figures, over 7,000 of them, were discovered by Chinese farmers in 1974. Each one is supposed to have a unique facial expression as well.

They are now being exhibited at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, from May 18-Oct 12.

This is seriously a once in a lifetime event, and I am definitely going to make my visit soon.

Beauty Tip #101

If you curl your lashes with an eyelash curler before and after applying mascara, your eyelashes will fall out. So don’t do that.

Marchesa makeup line

Marchesa, a staple on every red carpet these days among actresses, is teaming up with Stila Cosmetics to launch their Backstage Beauty makeup collection which is inspired by their Fall 2008 line.

Here are the designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig with Dita Von T all in Marchesa at the recent Met Gala.

Ramen = Haute Cuisine

Low on ca$h? Love Ramen? Here's some recipes I found that turn your average 25cent package of Ramen into a high-class meal.

First: Tequila Lime Ramen
Prepare ramen according to package directions minus the flavor packet. Drain noodles. Slice a lime in half and squeeze over the ramen. Add 1/2 shot tequila and a few red-pepper flakes.

Second: Shrimp and Bacon Ramen
Prepare ramen according to package directions without the flavor packet. Drain and set aside. Chop three slices of bacon into bite-sized pieces. Fry until crispy. Add a few popcorn-sized frozen shrimp. Fry four minutes. Add ramen noodles to the pan and toss with a few cilantro leaves.

Third: Bloody Mary Ramen
Cook ramen in one can tomato soup. Add one teaspoon horseradish from a jar, a dash of Worcestershire sauce, black pepper and Tabasco to taste. Garnish with pimento-stuffed olives and a celery stalk. Top with a vodka floater.

Fourth: Healthy Ramen
Use only one cup of water to boil ramen, and toss half a bag of baby spinach in the water while you're cooking it. Add a 1/2 cup cubed tofu and one small grated carrot. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Bon Appetit!

What is in a name...

According to the Associated Press, the name "Emily" tops the list for the 12th time as the #1 baby name... and the name "Jacob" tops the list for the 9th time in a row.

Little Emily and Jacob are going to have a hard time in school when the teacher is talking about the other Emily and Jacob.

Emily is so boring...I am going to name my kid Dakota Skylar Summer Ashleigh Raindrop Snow.

Yapple iFones

The recent sellout of the Yapple iFones at 5 O.C. Apple Stores and at least five others around the country likely means a new model is on the way...according to the Piper Jaffray report, “The limited availability is one of several indications that the release of a new model is imminent … Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference on 6/9 is a likely event at which Apple could announce the design and features of the new device.”

Analysts expect the 2nd generation iPhone is going to be slightly redesigned with 3G mobile data which allows faster Internet access.

Hmm... invent, market, $ell, redesign, market, $ell... and you never considered yourself a fool.

Of course he picked Shayne

So Matt did end up picking Shayne as I knew he would weeks ago. No man can resist a bubbly, gorgeous blond. Good for them, I hope they enjoy their 3 month relationship. To Shayne: I'd keep the Tacori ring and pawn it off just in case the acting gig doesn't pan out. Ha. I'm just jealous.

And it begins...

Here's a wireimage photo of my girls at the Sex and the City movie premiere in London. I can't wait to see the rest of their outfits at all the upcoming promotionals they will do city to city.

I think Maxim named SJP the unsexiest woman alive because no man would ever fantasize about a woman wearing that headress. It would be like having sex with a woman and a green bird. I think it's really lovely though, and that's all that matters because she dresses for the women and the gays, who are 99.9% of her audience.

OC Price Record

This mega luxury home in Corona Del Mar sets the record for highest selling price for a near-ocean home in OC. Selling price was around $28 million.

Collaborations...

I'm not sure how I feel about the massive collaborations between designers and mass labels lately... such as all the Go Target collabs and this, Stella McCartney and LeSportSac. It's the gray area, or being in the galaxy floating around but not being on one particular planet.

This everyday tote could double for a chic diaper bag for the baby mama in your life, $350, intermixonline.com.

Monday Blues

I have the Monday blues. My back hurts and I'm really tired, so creating another lovely set was in order... I call it, "Lace and Light".

Lucky Baby

Here's new pics of Nicole Ritchie's baby Harlow that will appear in Harper's Bazzar. She's so cute. Hopefully Harlow's parents won't spoil the crap out of her like Nicole was by Lionel. Spoiled people seriously have nothing to contribute to the world.

Concept Eating

This restaurant in Washington state called Terra Bite Lounge is an upscale voluntary payment cafe/deli. Their website says, "Patrons choose what to pay, and are encouraged to pay what they would elsewhere."

SBar

SBar on Hollywood Blvd.'s featured cocktail of the week. It looks so refreshing and so right for sexy Summer nights.

Your PCP would disapprove

Pizza Hut in Japan offers this Mega Pizza... the crust is made of hot dogs that's wrapped in bacon and melted cheese, the center of the pizza is filled with hamburgers, bacon, sausage, cheese rolls, bacon bits, mushroom, ham, onion, garlic, pepper and lastly tomato sauce.

Madame Moss

I'm so utterly inspired by her, and her photographs always continue to move me. Here she is in her new comeback ads for Agent Provocateur. The range includes demi-bras, lacy thongs, tasselled nipple 'pasties', baby-doll nighties and tulle eye masks. Sounds delicious, and Bloomingdale's at South Coast now carries the complete line.

National Teacher's Day

Happy Teacher's Day! To all my many amazing teachers over the 25 years and counting, here's an apple for you.
